L!VESTREAM: Wa¥ch Chelsea vs Newcastle|Carabao|Engl!sh commentary

Newcastle get the chance to dish out some instant payback when they host Chelsea in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer were on target as Enzo Maresca’s side beat the Magpies 2-1 in the Premier League on Sunday, leaving Eddie Howe’s side languishing 12th in the table.

Chelsea are competing well at home and abroad this term and reached the final of this competition last season under Mauricio Pochettino, although they needed penalties to sink Newcastle in the quarterfinal.

It’s another good reason for Eddie Howe’s men to be out for revenge. The Sporting News previews the game here.

Anthony Gordon’s absence was keenly felt at the weekend as the England winger sat out at Stamford Bridge with a groin injury suffered in training.

“He’s been for a scan, we’re hopeful the injury isn’t serious, let’s see how he is today,” Howe said in his pre-match press conference. “There is a chance he [could play this week] but we have to make the right decision.”

Will Osula and Jacob Murphy are ready to step in if Gordon doesn’t make it. Teenage midfielder Lewis Miley is closing in on a return after seven months out with a foot injury.

Callum Wilson (back), Jamaal Lascelles (ACL), Kieran Trippier (calf) and Sven Botman (ACL) all remain sidelined.

Newcastle predicted XI (4-3-3, right to left): Vlachodimos; (GK) — Livramento, Krafth, Schar, Kelly —Longstaff, Willock, Tonali — Murphy, Osula, Isak

Injured: Botman, Lascelles, Trippier, Dubravka, Wilson, Miley (doubt), Gordon (doubt)

Suspended: None

Chelsea boss Maresca has shuffled his amply-stacked squad during Uefa Conference League games this season and a similar line-up is expected here, with the likes of Joao Felix, Mykhailo Mudryk and Christopher Nkunku likely to enjoy another chance to impress in attack.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Enzo Fernandez are set to be partnered in midfield as Maresca continues to enjoy a largely clean bill of health.

Jadon Sancho was an unused substitute for the past two matches and will probably play here as he appears to have slipped below Pedro Neto in the wide attackers pecking order.

Chelsea predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Jorgensen (GK) — Disasi, Badiashile, Adarabioyo, Cucurella — Fernandez, Dewsbury-Hall — Sancho, Felix, Mudryk — Nkunku

Injured: Kellyman, Chilwell (doubt)

Suspended: None
